Easy Apple Fritters

When crisp air and crunchy leaves signal fall’s arrival, these Easy Apple Fritters step up as the season’s golden treat. Whether you're whipping them up for a quick breakfast or bringing a batch to your next potluck, this recipe is all about flavor with zero fuss.  Made with pantry staples like self-rising flour or pancake mix, chopped apples, and warm cinnamon, it's a comforting snack that doesn’t demand extra shopping.

They're fried to golden perfection, finished with a sweet drizzle of icing, and disappear faster than you can say “seconds, please.”  A guaranteed crowd-pleaser, especially when paired with hot coffee or cool apple cider.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup self-rising flour (or pancake mix)
  • 1 egg
  • 1 large apple (or two small), peeled and chopped
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk (for icing)
  • About 2 cups of oil (for frying)

Directions:

1.    In a mixing bowl, whisk together the egg, milk, and flour until smooth.

2.    Stir in the chopped apples, cinnamon, and sugar.  Mix until well combined.

3.    Heat oil in a deep pan over medium heat.

4.    Carefully drop heaping spoonfuls of batter into the hot oil. Fry until golden brown on both sides, flipping once.

5.    Transfer fritters to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

6.    To make the icing, mix powdered sugar with two tablespoons of milk until smooth.

7.    Drizzle icing over warm fritters and serve immediately.

Tips for cozy serving

Serve your freshly fried apple fritters piled high on a vintage plate or wooden board, nestled in a cloth napkin for rustic charm. Drizzle with warm icing and sprinkle a pinch of cinnamon sugar on top for an extra hug of sweetness.

Pair them with a mug of spiced chai, creamy hot cocoa, or steamy apple cider—anything that wraps around you like a sweater.  For a heartier twist, add a dollop of vanilla yogurt or whipped mascarpone on the side, lightly dusted with nutmeg.

If you're serving them at a brunch or potluck, try presenting them in a basket lined with parchment and tuck in a few cinnamon sticks or dried apple slices for an autumnal vibe.
