Master Xingyun (Shi Xingyun 1927-2023),
commonly known as Li Guoshen, was born on the 22nd of the seventh lunar month,
originally from Jiangdu, Jiangsu, and is the forty-eighth generation descendant
of Linji Authentic. An internationally
renowned Buddhist master, the founder of Fo Guang Shan, and the president of
the International Fo Guang Association World Association. In 1967, Fo Guang Shan was founded, and the
first, second and third abbots of Fo Guang Shan Temple were based on the
promotion of "Human Buddhism".
