Sweet Pumpkin Bread Rolls

Baking bread using a long process by hand or the shortcut of using a bread machine will produce the same result – the loaf of bread. As of today, I believe that you are already mastering your skill to move on to some other more challenging recipes by adding more flavors into your bread. I still am talking about the help of the bread machine.

Making sweet dinner rolls is the next simple step that will give you more confidence in learning baking at home. If you follow all my recipes, the opportunities are endless. You will wow your guests at dinners, potlucks, and birthday parties. The recipe that I will now share with you definitely will be a centerpiece on your Thanksgiving table, and it is not a pumpkin pie.

Indeed, why not make a rich pumpkin sweet roll, which will easily replace boring dinner rolls that we always buy at the grocery store? Did you ever know that pumpkin is such a versatile baking ingredient?. Pumpkin will add the natural sweet flavor, the great texture, and deep gold color to your bread as well. You can use homemade pumpkin purée, but you may have to adjust the amount of liquid in the recipe to balance the amount of liquid in your purée ( I will post the recipe about making-homemade pumpkin purée another time). As you know, you eat with your eyes first, and this sweet pumpkin roll will make your mouth water by looking at them in a bread basket on any dinner table.

Sweet pumpkin roll recipe

The ingredients:

1/2 C warm water

1 C plain pumpkin puree' ( I use the famous Libby's brand)

2 eggs lightly beaten

1 1/2 teaspoons salt

3 tablespoons sugar ( you can adjust the sugar to your taste)

2 Tbsp milk powder

3 Tbsp soft butter, margarine or vegetable oil

2 tsp pumpkin spice ( or you can use 1tsp Cinnamon, 1/2 tsp nutmeg and 1/2 tsp ground clove)

4 C bread flour

2 1/2 tsp active yeast

2 Tbsp soft butter

A few pumpkin seeds for decoration (optional)

Directions:

Place the ingredients in the bread pan machine as listed above except the pumpkin seeds, or you can follow the instruction manual that came with your machine. Choose the bread-dough cycle and press start. At this point, let the machine do its job of mixing, kneading and first rising. To kill time while waiting, you should pick up a good book to read or walk outside to breathe fresh air.

When the dough is double in size, remove it from the bread pan and punch the air out with your fist. Spread butter on to the 9 x13 baking dish. Lightly dust your hands with flour to shape the bread-dough. Cover the baking dish with the kitchen cloth and let it rise in a warm place for another 30 to 40 minutes. If you want to have these sweet rolls for breakfast, put them in the refrigerator to slow- rise overnight.

Preheat the oven at 375 degree and bake for 25 minutes.

Bon appétit! And see you next time.
