Easy Stir-Fried Napa Cabbage

Looking for a quick and delicious side dish to complement your meal?  This easy stir-fried Napa cabbage is the perfect choice! With its tender leaves and subtle sweetness, Napa cabbage pairs wonderfully with various meats and fish, making it a versatile addition to your culinary repertoire.  This dish will surely impress if you're whipping up an Asian-inspired feast or need a healthy and flavorful side. 

Ingredients:

 Main Ingredients:

  • 1/2 lb. Napa cabbage
  • 1 cup white onion, sliced
  • 2 fresh hot chili peppers, sliced
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp ginger, minced
  • 2 tbsp cooking oil

Sauce ingredients:

  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp vinegar
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • Black pepper, to taste

Directions:

1.    Preparing the Napa Cabbage:

·         Wash the cabbage thoroughly.

·         Separate the leaves from the stems.

·         Slice the stems into 2-inch pieces and cut the leaves to match.

2.    Mixing the Sauce:

·         Combine water, soy sauce, oyster sauce, sugar, vinegar, salt, and black pepper in a small bowl.  Set aside.

3.    Cooking the Vegetables:

·         Heat a wok or large skillet over medium-high heat.  Add the oil.

·         Stir in the minced ginger and garlic.  Cook for about 30 seconds or until fragrant.

·         Add the cabbage stems and stir-fry for 2–3 minutes until slightly softened.

4.    Adding the Remaining Ingredients:

·         Add the sliced onion, hot chili, and cabbage leaves to the wok.  Stir-fry for 1–2 minutes until the leaves begin to wilt.

·         Pour in the prepared sauce and toss everything together.

5.    Adjusting the Seasoning:

·         Taste and adjust seasoning if needed.

6.    Serving:

·         Transfer to a serving dish and enjoy your stir-fried Napa cabbage as a flavorful side.

++ You can thicken the sauce by adding 2 tsp cornstarch with 1 tbsp water.
