Crock Pot Turkey Chili with Beans

When the weather starts getting cooler every day, a bowl of hot chili sounds good to me. This recipe is a healthy chili using ground turkey instead of beef and 3 kinds of beans, because I love beans and cook beans all the time. The chili seasonings can be store-bought but easily put together at home. I brown the turkey meat before placing it into the crock pot to enhance its flavor. I like to make chili in a crock pot because the slow cooking makes the chili taste great.

Ingredients:
1 ½ lbs. ground turkey
3 garlic cloves, minced
1  onions, chopped
1 red bell pepper, diced
1 green bell pepper, diced
1 can of stewed tomatoes
3 cups cooked beans or your choice of beans:
Black, red beans, white beans
2 cup chicken broth
2 tbs olive oil
2 bay leave
Chili seasonings:
2 tbs chili powder
1/4 tsp cumin
1/4 tsp coriander powder
1/4 tsp black pepper
1 tsp salt
or 1 package of chili seasoning
Garnish with chopped cilantro and lime

Directions:
Heat oil in a sauté pan and add garlic, onions, and chili seasonings. Stir and cook until fragrant. Add turkey.

Stir to coat turkey with the seasonings. Cook until turkey turns brown.

Grease the interior bowl of the 5 quart crock pot. Pour the tomato and chicken broth in to a sauté pan and bring to boil.

Add turkey and the rest of the ingredients into the crock pot bow

Cover and turn to low and cook for 6 hours.

Serve.
