Homemade Hamburger or Hot Dog Buns

One of my favorite foods for grilling is the hotdog, and homemade buns definitely taste out of this world. A bread machine does the job, so you can take all the credit. Make a big batch of dough and enjoy them anytime you want because these homemade buns freeze well too.

Ingredients:
1/2 cup milk
1 egg
1/4 cup chia seed gel*
2 tbs sugar
1/2 tsp salt
1 tbs butter
2 1/2 cups bread flour
2 tsp active dry yeast

For the egg wash, use 1 egg with 2 tbs of water

Directions:
Place all the ingredients into bread pan machine in the order listed above. Select dough function and press start.
When dough has risen long enough, the machine will beep. Turn the machine off. Remove dough and place onto lightly floured surface.

Gently roll dough into a 12-inch rope.

With a sharp knife, divide dough into 4 pieces for hamburger buns and 5 pieces for hot dog buns.
Grease a baking sheet with cooking oil.

Roll each piece of dough into a ball and flatten for hamburger buns or shape into 5-inch-long cylinders for hot dog buns. Place 2 inches apart onto the prepared baking sheet.

Let buns rise in a warm place for 41 minutes or until almost double in size. Brush top with egg wash and sprinkle with sesame seeds.

Bake in preheated oven set to 400° for 10 minutes. Remove and let cool on the rack.

*Soak 1/4 tsp chia seeds with 1/4 cup water
